About Oliver’s Burrow:
Oliver’s Burrow began with one simple mission: to rethink how we feed our rats and hamsters in South Africa. What started as a passion project by veterinary nursing student and rodent-enthusiast Kaelin Lees (in honour of her beloved dwarf hamster Oliver), has grown into an online exotic-pet store as well as a growing business surrounding rodent nutrition, committed to offering natural, safe, and nutrient-rich food alternatives for rodents, small mammals, and other exotic pets across South Africa.
With Oliver (24/10/2019 – 14/08/2022) as our inspiration, we researched, formulated and fine-tuned every recipe with the aim of giving rodents the variety and balance they deserve, not just as “pet feed” but as wholesome nutrition.

Ingredient transparency, every product lists full composition in detail: you know exactly what you’re giving your pet!
Foraging & enrichment built in, we believe feeding should be stimulating, hence our mixes include varying textures, seeds, puffed grains and botanicals to encourage natural behaviours.
Exotic-pet specific range, as an online store specialising in small mammals and exotics, we understand the unique needs of each species. Kaelin worked closely with exotic species through her studies as well as her work in an Exotic Veterinary Clinic.
Made in South Africa for South Africa, our products are sized, priced and supplied with the South African retailer in mind: local production, local support and local service. We tailored our diets to meet the needs of rodents living in South Africa with our specific conditions and availability.
